Gary studied at Seale Hayne and the Royal Agricultural College before joining Grant Thornton in 1987 and is a member of the Agricultural Law Association. He has been involved in practical farm management and worked for the NFU and the Barclays Bank Group. In 1990/91 he worked in Australia lecturing at Marcus Oldham Agricultural College in farm and equine management.
Gary is the author of the first and second editions of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Accountancy and Auditing Guide for Farming. He is a partner in a 2,000 acre farming business.
Gary is a director, looking after farms and estates. He particularly specialises in setting up farming joint ventures and in solving problems in larger family owned agricultural businesses relating to strategic growth, inheritance planning and succession.
Terry started his career at an independent firm of accountants based in Cambridge, qualifying as a Certified Accountant in 2003. He subsequently qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2005 and cemented his knowledge within a specialist private client team. Terry was then admitted into the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners by completing the diploma in 2012.
Terry joined the business as Tax Manager in September 2015, bringing with him a wealth of experience of advising high net worth individuals and family owned businesses. His particular specialisms include restructuring and succession planning and giving detailed tailored advice to clients in respect of Inheritance Tax exposure and Capital Gains Tax mitigation.
Terry enjoys spending his time with his young family and keeping up with the developments on track at the British Superbikes, whenever possible.
Carol joined the business in 2014 and has worked in the professional services sector since 2008. Prior to that she worked in industry and has a wealth of experience in sales, marketing and business development.
When off duty, Carol enjoys exploring the Great British countryside.
Chris started his career in tax as a trainee in 2007. He has completed the Association of Taxation Technician qualification and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CTA qualified).
Chris works with a variety of clients covering personal, business and corporate tax. He specialises in Business and Capital Allowance Planning.
Carly joined the business in August 2014, she was admitted to the Association of Tax Technicians in November 2013 and qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in January 2016. She specialises in inheritance tax, trusts and estates.
Prior to working in tax, Carly worked for a regional firm of Solicitors and completed an undergraduate degree in History at the University of Reading.
Robert graduated from the Royal Agricultural College in 2011 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Rural Land Management. He joined Smiths Gore as an assistant surveyorbefore joining the team in November 2012. He is a qualified Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) and is currently studying towards being CTA qualified.
Robert specialises in farms & estates and his work involves preparing and managing accounts for farming businesses.
Robert enjoys the country life and is a keen shot, rugby player and horse rider.
Clare joined the business in August 2015 and works as an Accounts Assistant. She has completed her level 4 AAT qualification and looks forward to studying ACCA in the upcoming year.
Clare specialises in farms & estates and her work involves preparing accounts for farming businesses.
In her spare time, Clare enjoys travelling and socialising with family and friends.
Vicky joined the business in February 2014 and works as an Accounts Assistant. She has completed her AAT qualification, and is currently studying towards her ACCA qualification. Vicky specialises in farms & estates and her work involves preparing accounts for farming businesses.
In her spare time, Vicky enjoys socialising and shopping.
Christine started her career with a local firm of accountants, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) in 2013, before joining the team in March 2017.
Christine has experience preparing accounts for a wide variety of clients, including farming businesses. She has knowledge of assisting clients with book-keeping, Value Added Tax, Corporation Tax and Audit.
The majority of her spare time is spent with her young daughter and husband.
Jo joined the business in August 2013 as a Marketing Consultant. She has 15 years experience in the marketing of rural based businesses. She has managed many marketing campaigns and rebrands and specialises in event organisation and literature design.
In her spare time, Jo enjoys reading, spending time outdoors on the farm and in the garden and can often be found at pony club events or on the side of the rugby pitch supporting her children.
