Gary Markham

Gary studied at Seale Hayne and the Royal Agricultural College before joining Grant Thornton in 1987 and is a member of the Agricultural Law Association. He has been involved in practical farm management and worked for the NFU and the Barclays Bank Group. In 1990/91 he worked in Australia lecturing at Marcus Oldham Agricultural College in farm and equine management.

Gary is the author of the first and second editions of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Accountancy and Auditing Guide for Farming. He is a partner in a 2,000 acre farming business.

Gary is a director, looking after farms and estates. He particularly specialises in setting up farming joint ventures and in solving problems in larger family owned agricultural businesses relating to strategic growth, inheritance planning and succession.


Samantha Corner MRAC CTA

After studying Rural Estate Management at the Royal Agricultural College, Sam started her career with Grant Thornton in 1997. In August 2000, she joined Saffery Champness in London and qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2001. In 2009, after having her family, Sam moved to the Peterborough office of Saffery Champness where she had a wide-ranging client base including landed estates, farmers and high net worth individuals. She joined Land Family Business in late 2018.

Sam has a broad tax knowledge covering Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax as well as a detailed knowledge of the associated tax compliance requirements.

In her spare time, Sam enjoys walking her Border Terrier and most weekends are spent supporting her children at various supporting events.


Luke Cochrane CTA ATT MAAT

Luke started his career at an independent firm of tax advisor’s based in Peterborough, where he started his training for the Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) qualification.  After moving to Saffery Champness in Peterborough, Luke completed his qualification with the AAT, and also completed his qualification with the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT). Luke qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2019, whilst working on a large portfolio of landed estate families, farming and Trust clients.   He joined the team in May 2020.

Luke has an extensive tax knowledge including Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax.

Outside of work, Luke enjoys playing rugby and cycling.


Abbie Harrison ACA MAAT

Accounts Manager

Abbie joined LFB in October 2022 after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in July 2022. Prior to joining LFB, Abbie gained experience at both small and medium sized accountancy practices, completing her AAT qualification in January 2015.

Abbie has experience preparing financial statements and tax returns. Also, she is available to answer any book keeping and VAT queries on various accounting softwares such as Xero, Quickbooks and Farmplan.

Abbie enjoys travelling and plans to see as much of the world as possible.


Lucy Northrop AATQB

Lucy has joined LFB from a large estate in Northamptonshire where she gained experience in working with the wider estate team and family, bookkeeping for 3 farms, 5 trusts, 3 charities, several LLPs and Limited companies. During this time, she also gained experience bookkeeping, including Inter-company transactions, management recharges and over 400 residential and commercial rental properties.

Lucy has both purchase ledger and credit control experience and has worked with systems such as Farm plan and Xero, Dext, JDE, Mia and Therefore.

Lucy has been AATQB qualified since December 2022, having passed her advanced bookkeeping, final accounts preparation and management accounting costing with a 97% grade. Lucy is currently continuing with her studies with AAT to gain her MAAT status and will look to go on to study her Tax qualifications and her Charted Accountant status.

Lucy is the Treasurer for her local scout’s district and on the Northampton AAT branch committee as the student representative. In her free time Lucy likes to spend time with her family and her dog.


Radek Wojcik 

Accounts and Tax Assistant

After completing his A Levels, Radek went on to study an economics degree part-time whilst gaining experience in transactional finance within industry. Whilst working in industry, he gained experience predominantly in Accounts Payable, taking on a Senior position which involved managing a small team and looking after the overheads expenses for over 20 group companies. He has previously worked with software such as Oracle and Kofax.


Radek joined LFB in 2023 and is eager to study towards an accounting or tax qualification.


In his spare time, Radek enjoys attending music shows and reading.

Terry started his career at an independent firm of accountants based in Cambridge, qualifying as a Certified Accountant in 2003. He subsequently qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2005 and cemented his knowledge within a specialist private client team. Terry was then admitted into the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners by completing the diploma in 2012.

Terry joined the business as Tax Manager in September 2015, bringing with him a wealth of experience of advising high net worth individuals and family owned businesses. His particular specialisms include restructuring and succession planning and giving detailed tailored advice to clients in respect of Inheritance Tax exposure and Capital Gains Tax mitigation.

Terry enjoys spending his time with his young family and keeping up with the developments on track at the British Superbikes, whenever possible.


Rez Watts

Practice Manager

Rez joined LFB in 2018 with over 20 years’ experience in office management both in the private and public sectors, including working for a large London local authority and two multi-national companies.

Prior to that, Rez started her career in London as a Graphic Designer creating brand identity, company logos and other creative outputs.  In 2014, Rez achieved an upper second-class BA Honours degree in Professional Photography.

In addition to her role as Executive PA to Gary Markham and Carol Walton with responsibilities for front of office and office management, Rez manages the creative aspect of the business - including print and digital media design, photography and organising corporate events.

In her spare time, Rez enjoys photography, painting and up-cycling furniture.
